Today we had a big win! Our Toledo campus, which is where Keshia and I attend and work, sits right next to DeVeaux Middle School. A bunch of students walk over to our parking lot to get picked up everyday after school. Today we set up a table with some free cookies and hot chocolate and just gave it to students as they waited for their rides. We had a great response. We ran out of cookies and had to make more hot chocolate! It was really cold and a perfect day for handing out free hot chocolate. What you can't see in the picture is the group of students standing off to either side, or the parents watching from all their cars. One student said they aren't aloud to take candy from strangers, but hot chocolate doesn't count so I'll take two. haha.

More Information

Here is some information on what I will be doing during my internship. It is a part-time internship that officially begins January 11th. There is a group of around 10 interns, and we will split our time between leadership/theology training as group and our specific ministry areas. My specific ministry area is Student Ministries. I have a degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in Youth Ministries and am confident in my call to work with students. During my internship I will be focused primarily on middle school students in our Fusion programs. We have our own program during all of our five weekend services designed for middle school students. We also have Fusion LifeGroups that meet on thursday nights. At LifeGroups we get to go even deeper into God's Word, and have longer discussions about topics relevant to middle school students.
One of the things that makes this opportunity so unique is that part of my time will be spent in a small group learning theology and developing my leadership skills. There are not many ministry opportunities that take time to develop me as a better leader.
This will undoubtedly be a time of growth as I prepare for life in the ministry.
Thank you again for your supporting. Keshia and I appreciate it and are excited for the journey ahead.
